Welcome to Northern Art
Thank you for taking the time to read my post. I am extremely excited to launch Northern Art. It combines two of my favourite things: nature and art. As this is my first post, I thought I’d share a little bit about myself and how this all got started. During the summer of 2015, I had the rare privilege of taking a summer off on sabbatical. I chose a water access only cottage in Muskoka on Lake Kahshe, learned to drive a boat and lived there all summer. My intention was to paint and escape from corporate life for a little while.
It was during that summer, canoeing around the beautiful rocks of the Canadian Shield I fell in love with nature more than ever and I found my painting style. I painted sixteen canvases over the summer, had my very first art show and sold every painting raising over $4,000 for Aspergers Society of Ontario.
When I was thinking about starting my own business, I thought of my passion to paint and how I’d like to be able to give back through my work. As you will notice, I love trees! Can’t help it and can’t stop painting them. So I thought it would be nice to be able to support Tree Canada.
Tree Canada is a registered charity proudly dedicated to planting and nurturing trees. For 25 years, they’ve engaged communities, governments, corporations and individuals in the pursuit of a greener and healthier living environment for Canadians. Since 1992, they have planted more than 82 million trees, greened more than 660 schoolyards, helped restore places hit by natural disasters and brought together urban forestry experts greening cities all across Canada.
When you make a purchase of one of my art pieces I will be donating 5% of all proceeds to Tree Canada. I will be reporting on how much I donate on a regular basis so be sure to check back.
A note about the site. As you are likely all aware we are in the midst of a pandemic, so not all of my prints are available as of yet, but you can pre-order simply by signing up to be notified of when inventory is available,
Thank you again for taking the time to read this!
Keep Safe.
